'The support that we won showed that our ideas were not outside of the mainstream,' he writes. 'We showed that millions of Americans want a bold, progressive agenda that takes on the billionaire class and creates a government that works for all of us and not just for big campaign donors.' He repeats his basic policy positions (a higher minimum wage, stricter banking regulations, a carbon tax, etc.) and offers a Brooklyn take on the usual humanizing biography" (New York Times). On publication, Washington Times reviewer called Sanders' account of the campaign, "well worth reading… for starters, it tells us who this man who energized so many young people really is—an enthusiastic young socialist trapped in an old curmudgeon's body, his ideas basically just as fresh to him today as when he left his native Brooklyn."
