Born in Kennebunk, Maine, American writer Kenneth Roberts specialized in regional historical fiction, often writing about his native state and its terrain and also about other upper New England states and scenes. Ranked as one of the best historical romances of all time, his best known work, Arundel, is a masterful retelling of Benedict Arnold's secret expedition to attack Quebec city during the American Revolutionary War.
