Magic Bus: The Who on Tour is a 1968 compilation album by the British rock band The Who, released exclusively in the United States by Decca Records. Despite the title’s implication of a live performance, the album does not feature concert recordings; rather, it assembles previously released studio tracks from earlier albums and singles, such as “Run Run Run,” “Doctor, Doctor,” and the hit single “Magic Bus.” Issued to capitalize on the commercial momentum generated by the success of that single, the compilation served as a marketing strategy to sustain The Who’s growing popularity in the American market. While not considered part of the band’s core discography by the members themselves, Magic Bus: The Who on Tour remains an interesting artifact of late-1960s rock culture and the record industry’s efforts to package and promote British Invasion artists to a transatlantic audience.
