First edition of Smith's engrossing account of Woodrow Wilson's final years as President of the United States. Octavo, original boards, illustrated. Signed by Gene Smith on the front free endpaper. Fine in the original slipcase which is in very good condition.
Nevin states in his introduction to the present volume: "Mr. Gene Smith's courageous and enthralling book could not have been written until now. It was impossible to present the story of the months after Wilson's paralytic stroke until the records of the principal participants and witnesses could be brought to bear upon it; until we had narratives as important as Dr. Cary Grayson's, as observant as "Ike" Hoover's and Tumulty's, and as graphic as Starling's with the glimpses set down by many another person."
