Color lithograph of the iconic 'Earthrise' image taken by Bill Anders during the Apollo 8 mission. Lengthily signed by mission commander Frank Borman in gold felt tip to the top of the photograph, "In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth - Col. Frank Borman, Apollo 8." In fine condition. The photograph measures 8 inches by 10 inches. A desirable image.
Taken by American astronaut William Anders from lunar orbit on December 24th 1968 during the Apollo 8 mission, 'Earthrise' has become synonymous with the American space program and essentially marked the beginning of the environmental program. In Life's 100 Photographs that Changed the World, wilderness photographer Galen Rowell called Earthrise "the most influential environmental photograph ever taken". Fifty years to the day after taking the photo, William Anders observed, "We set out to explore the moon and instead discovered the Earth."
