Anne Tyler has published twenty-four novels and earned multiple awards including the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize, the Ambassador Book Award, and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Her eleventh novel and Pulitzer Prize-winner 'Breathing Lessons,' set in her adoptive home of Baltimore, follows a day in the life of the married Maggie and Ira Moran, an ordinary couple encountering their first time as empty nesters. What began as an exploration into the disasters of family life and marriage has become so iconic that it cannot possibly be separated from its setting. "Baltimore belongs to Tyler in the same way Asheville belongs to Thomas Wolfe, Chicago to James T. Farrell . . . (and) Albany to William Kennedy" (Jonathan Yardley).
