First edition of this supplement to existing texts in quantum mechanics. Octavo, original cloth, illustrated with diagrams and equations throughout. Near fine in a near fine price-clipped dust jacket. Uncommon in this condition.
American theoretical physicist Richard Phillips Feynman was best known for his his work in the path integral formulation of quantum mechanics, the theory of quantum electrodynamics, and the physics of the superfluidity of supercooled liquid helium, as well as his work in particle physics for which he proposed the parton model. During his lifetime, Feynman became one of the best-known scientists in the world. He was a keen popularizer of physics through both books and lectures, including a 1959 talk on top-down nanotechnology called 'There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom' and the three-volume publication of his undergraduate lectures, 'The Feynman Lectures on Physics.' His 'Quantum Mechanics and Path Integrals' aims to accomplish three tasks: "(1) to supplement a first-year course in quantum mechanics; (2) to enable physicists already acquainted with more traditional approaches to quantum mechanics to enlarge their familiarity with this subject; and (3) to provide a source book for the path integral techniques developed by R. P. Feynman."
