At the time of her death in 1941, Virginia Woolf left behind her a large number of essays, sketches and short stories, some of which had been published in newspapers and some of which had never before appeared in print. The present volume is the successor to the first book of collected essays, The Death of the Moth, published in 1942 and contains a number of previously unpublished literary criticism, biographical 'sketches', and travel essays.
