Best remembered for his children's novella Le Petit Prince and his lyrical aviation writings, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was a famed and successful avaitor. His literary works, among them The Little Prince which has been translated into 300 languages, posthumously boosted his stature to national hero status in France. His 1939 philosophical memoir Terre des hommes (titled Wind, Sand and Stars in English) became the name of an international humanitarian group, and was also used to create the central theme of the most successful world's fair of the 20th century, Expo 67 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
