First signed limited edition of Henry Cabot Lodge's biography of Theodore Roosevelt. Quarto, original half cloth, frontispiece portrait of Roosevelt with tissue guard present. One of five hundred and seventy-five copies of which 500 were signed by the author. Laid in is a reproduced photograph of Roosevelt identified and initialed by Lawrence Abbott on the verso, "Photo of Theodore Roosevelt at his desk in the Outlook Office LA." Lawrence Abbott was a personal friend of Roosevelt and served as his secretary during his tour of Europe and Africa. He additionally authored a biography of Roosevelt, Impressions of Theodore Roosevelt (1919). Near fine in a very good dust jacket with some wear.
American Republican Congressman Henry Cabot Lodge is best known for his positions on foreign policy, especially his battle with President Woodrow Wilson in 1919 over the Treaty of Versailles. Lodge authored over 25 books throughout his career including biographies of Daniel Webster, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, and Theodore Roosevelt.
